A
recipe I found a few years ago in a
children's cookbook called New Junior Cookbook a few years ago. You need:
Butter or margarine softened, one 1 lb package of powdered sugar, 1/2 cup
unsweetened cocoa powder, 1/2 cup nonfat dry milk, 1/2 cup water, 1/2 cup of
butter or margarine, 1/2 cup chopped nuts if you would like, 8 by 8 by 2 inch
pan. foil ,large mixing bowl, measuring cups, small saucepan or 1 quart
microwave safe casserole dish, waxed paper (if using microwave), wooden spoon,
ruler, table knife, sharp knife. After gathering your ingredients, line the
baking pan with foil letting it hang over the edges. grease
with butter or margarine. save until step 5 ( out on
the counter). Next, stir powdered sugar & cocoa powder together in large
mixing bowl. Save until step 4 (on the counter once again). Then, stir together
dry milk and water in a small saucepan. Add the 1/2 cup of butter or margarine.
Cook on medium until it boils, using the wooden spoons stir constantly to melt
butter or margarine. Remove pan from burner.( or for
microwave use), put butter or margarine in microwave on 100% for 1 minute or
until melted. stir in the dry milk and water with the
wooden spoon. Microwave uncovered for 2 minutes. more
until mixture just begins to boil, stirring 2 times with wooden spoon. Then
pour melted butter mix into powdered sugar mix in mixing bowl. Stir until
smooth with wooden spoon. Add chopped nuts if you like. Pour
fudge into prepared pan spreading it evenly throughout. While still
warm, use table knife and ruler to mark surface with 1 inch marks. Chill
several hours until firm. When it is firm, use the foil to
lift it out of the pan. Using the sharp knife, cut
into 1 inch squares or into shapes with cookie cutters. If you are going
to cut then into shapes with a cookie cutter, don't make marks. Eat and enjoy!
When finished, store tightly covered in the refrigerator.
