German Potato Salad

5 pounds red potatoes sliced – boil – cool slightly

 

½ to 1 pound bacon fried, drained and crumbled

 

1 onion chopped

 

1 tablespoon flour

 

1 cup water

 

½ cup vinegar

 

1 cup sugar

 

Reserve 2 tablespoons of fat  in pan or enough to cover bottom of fry pan. Add flour and brown slightly in hot grease. Add sugar, water, vinegar and sugar. Stir until boiling and slightly thicken. Layer potatoes, onions and bacon several times. Pour liquid over all and stir gently.
